ArtisWitch (First Episode included in rest of this note)
(Story: There is a rumor doing the rounds in Harajuku: somewhere in the back streets of Ura-Harajuku, a witch and her mysterious shop serve those whose wishes have gone unheard, giving them an opportunity to unlock their hearts' greatest desires.
Believing this to be an ideal arrangement, the proud apprentice witch Nina strives to fulfill her customers' wishes while her power and influence grow accordingly. However, not all wishes are meant to come true—and not all of them lead to a happy ending. As Nina is compelled to peer deeper into the human psyche, she soon discovers the dark side of a witch's obligations, and her ambitions begin to clash with her wish to comfort the entire world.

(Genre: Slice-of-Life, Supernatural)
(Released 2021; ONA; 6 episodes; TV-14)
(Notes: Okay. The episodes are really short and the series is super short but in that short time; I'd say the experience was worth it. I know CGI anime is usually not well-liked but give this one a shot. You can tell they tried to put effort into it. The music is great. I love the designs and the ideas amd plot are creative. ArtisWitch is a collaboration project between Sunrise and Japanese talent agency AsobiSystem that features Harajuku art, fashion, and music. And y'know, Sunrise is the same anime studio behind Cowboy Bebop, Gintama, Code Geass, Love Live, Inuyasha and a few other iconic anime. Oh, and you can find ArtisWitch's episodes on YouTube along with music videos and PVs for the series. It's alot of fun. And Ruru and Haruka are best girls sorry. We also adore Akihiro in this household lmao. But Nina is great too I can't deciiiide and the FASHION oh my lord i can't stop gushing about this showww. I'd also call this Magical Girl adjacent. Sorry. It's the law. I say it counts. lmao. There's so much more that can be done with this one. I wish there was more of it if only for the characters alone. I'd love to see a 2D animated interpretation but it looks good as it is too. And also, the Artiswitch YouTube channel itself has some other cool things in it too. The other music videos are so pretty and well done too! So maybe check that out as well. The characters; the messages, etc. This series, franchise, whatever it is; it needs more love. And the episodes are so short so...lemme just put the first episode below the PV down here for y'all if you're interested! And a few PVs for a Music Video project they did awhile back! Be sure to check out the channel if you want more!) Read Note

Colorful: The Movie (Trigger warning for this one too)
(Story: Upon arriving at the train station of death, an impure soul is granted a second chance at life against his will. Reincarnating into the body of Makoto Kobayashi, a 14-year-old boy who recently ended his own life, the soul is tasked to identify the boy's greatest sin in life within a time limit of six months. Although it remains reluctant toward continuing life as Makoto, the soul soon begins to notice the complexities of people's emotions and actions.
Deconstructing the ideas of fractured families and depression, Colorful explores the intricacies of the daily struggles humans face but are too abashed to confront.)
(Genre: Supernatural, Drama)
(Released 2010; movie; 2hr 7min; PG-13)
(Notes: Bruh. How'd y'all sleep on this?? I'm gonna cry. This one hit hard. My heart. Obvious trigger warning but this movie is something else. And i had to specify the movie since there's an anime called Colorful that's pretty obscure too but that one's a series and it's a raunchy comedy so...Yeah...The movie is pretty profound and depicts the duality of man; humans aren't perfect and that's what makes them human. It's heartwarming and if you can handle the triggering themes, I'd say it's worth a watch. It needs much more love. I'd go as far as to call it beautiful. And I'm pretty sure Sunrise was involved in making this film. Y'know, Sunrise as in the anime studio behind Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass, to name a few.) Read Note

The Mystic Archives of Dantalian
(Story: Six months ago, Lord Hugh Anthony Disward, also known as Huey, lost his eccentric grandfather, Sir Wesley Disward, who was a renowned collector of rare books. His grandfather's will states that, in order to inherit his manor and everything inside it, he must take guardianship over the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian—an archive that contains forbidden knowledge—and also take care of a mysterious girl called Dalian.)
(Genre: Action, Mystery, Supernatural, Detective, Historical)
(Released 2011; 12 episodes; TV-MA)
(Notes: Well, for one, no unnecessary romance for the most part so that's a relief. I hate forced romance/pairings. It's a surprisingly dark show with some good jokes and moments. I enjoyed it. And it is short. It doesn't overstay its welcome. Oh and this anime is by Studio Gainax. You know, Gainax is the anime studio behind Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL,Kare Kano(Which i recommended before), Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster(Which i also recommended) and Medaka Box. This is a short, sweet little show. If you have some free time, give it a watch. You might like it.) Read Note

(Notes: Colorful cast? Check. Lots of charm. Yup. It isnt perfect but it's fun! A lot of people don't talk about this one I've noticed but I'm talking about it now. Its also got an interesting concept! And it's short and sweet so it won't take up too much of your time. Although, I'll say, while i dont hate the OP song personally..i can take it or leave it.) Gugure! Kokkuri-san
(Story: Gugure! Kokkuri-san is an eccentric comedy centered around the self-proclaimed doll, Kohina Ichimatsu. Her uneventful life goes from plain to absurd when she summons a fox spirit by the name of Kokkuri-san. But contrary to popular belief, he is not the omniscient, answer-granting spirit from the legend anymore. The loss of believers in modern society has rendered him powerless.
Upon meeting the bizarre girl who summoned him, Kokkuri-san is shocked to discover that Kohina not only lives alone, but survives on just cup ramen! Filled with concern for the young girl, he takes it upon himself to ensure that Kohina has proper meals and lives a decent life. Thus begin Kokkuri-san's less-than-hopeful endeavors and their peculiar life together.)
(Genre: Comedy, Supernatural, Gag Humor)
(Released 2014; 12 episodes; PG-13)
(Notes: Resisting the urge to call the cops on Inugami rn (if you know, you know-)
But other than that, this is a fun watch. I like it. It has actually made me laugh quite a bit based on the characters alone i like it. If nothing else, it is pretty cute and entertaining. Why has this one been overshadowed? The OP is so chaotic oml and the main fox spirit Kokkuri is the main singer of the OP. And he's voiced by Daisuke Ono. Y'know, voice of Sebastian from Black Butler, Jotaro Kujo, Arthur from Blue Exorcist, Handa from Barakamon, William from Black Clover, Ace from Bungo Stray Dogs, Shizuo from Durarara, Ko Paat from Fire Force, etc. The show was also animated by TMS Entertainment. TMS is one of the oldest and most famous anime studios in Japan, best known for numerous anime franchises such as Lupin the Third, Lilpri, The Gutsy Frog, The Rose of Versailles, Anpanman, Detective Conan, Monster Rancher, Magic Knight Rayearth, Hamtaro, Sonic X, D.Gray-man, Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple, Fruits Basket (since 2019), Obake no Q-Taro (until 1972), Bakugan Battle Brawlers and feature-length films Golgo 13: The Professional, Akira and Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, alongside animation works for Western animation such as Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Inspector Gadget, The Real Ghostbusters, Rainbow Brite, DuckTales, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Tiny Toon Adventures, Batman: The Animated Series, Animaniacs, and Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

Private exorcists for hire, they serve only the highest bidder to survive in the cutthroat corporate world. Among this, the Mikami GS Company, led by 28-year-old Reiko Mikami and her two assistants, the 17-year-old boy Tadao Yokoshima and the ghost girl Okinu, is said to be the best.)
(Genre: Action, Supernatural, Comedy)
(Release 1993; 45 episodes; PG-13)
(Notes: Mikami being a queen? yes. A main female protagonist thats a full grown woman for once?? LETS GOOOO- The OP is an absolute vibe; banger all the way but again, the only thing i dont vibe with is the age gap thing. why do so many anime do that why- other than that, this is a certified classic. And yes, the studio behind this one is Toei Animation; known for also making One Piece, the Dragon Ball series, Lovely Complex, Digimon, the original Sailor Moon anime series, Slam Dunk, Mononoke which i recommended before, Sailor Moon Crystal, World Trigger, Saint Seiya, Ojamajo Doremi, the Bayonetta anime movie, the Precure series if im not mistaken, etc. Also, retro anime art style; yes please more i love it so much) Read Note

Kimagure Orange Road
(Story: Kyōsuke Kasuga and his family had to move several times after being seen using their esper powers. Upon settling for the seventh time, Kyōsuke briefly meets a pretty girl who gives him her straw-hat and falls in love with her on sight. On the first day of school he learns this girl is his junior high classmate Madoka Ayukawa, who, contrary to his initial impression, is feared as a tough and no-nonsense delinquent. Their underclassman (and Madoka's best friend), Hikaru Hiyama, sees Kyōsuke use his powers to sink an impressive basketball shot and falls in love with him. Kyōsuke ends up dating Hikaru while constantly struggling with his feelings for Madoka due to his indecisiveness. Likewise, Madoka has feelings for Kyōsuke which she masks with her capricious nature for fear of hurting her friend Hikaru.)
(Genre: Romantic Comedy, Supernatural, Drama)
(Released 1987; 48 episodes plus 2 movies to officially wrap up and finish the story. Watch the movies too if you wanna know how it ends after watching the series)
(Notes: Certified hood classic lmao okay i digress, it's good. Madoka is obvious best girl duh (she's the black haired girl) and i like this more than most romantic anime also..that art style is sooooooo good. Produced by Toho; who also produced Your Name, Spirited Away, Another, Weathering with You, Akira, Beastars, Wolf Children, Ponyo, the second My Hero Academia movie, the Tatami Galaxy, most of the Naruto movies at least, Black Rock Shooter, etc. As for the animation studio? Pierrot. Pierrot also animated Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto:Shippuden, the original Bleach anime, Black Clover, YuYu Hakusho, Yona of the Dawn, Great Teacher Onizuka, etc.
Kimagure Orange Road was a highly influential series, with sales of over 20 million copies in Japan alone. It is credited alongside Dragon Ball for introducing an entire generation of Europeans to anime and manga. It was also an archetypal shōnen romantic comedy, a genre which it had a major influence on, and the character Madoka is considered to be a root of the tsundere archetype. The anime's Christmas episode also featured an early use of the time loop plot device. So why is it here in the underrated list? because y'all dont talk about it and probably havent watched it dang it instead of rent a girlfriend watch this, its actually good and has not-annoying, not-flat characters and the songs in Kimagure Orange Road are bops, sorry, i dont make the rules and R.I.P to the creator of the Kimagure Orange Road manga Izumi Matsumoto)

Mushishi
(Story: "Mushi": the most basic forms of life in the world. They exist without any goals or purposes aside from simply "being." They are beyond the shackles of the words "good" and "evil." Mushi can exist in countless forms and are capable of mimicking things from the natural world such as plants, diseases, and even phenomena like rainbows.
This is, however, just a vague definition of these entities that inhabit the vibrant world of Mushishi, as to even call them a form of life would be an oversimplification. Detailed information on Mushi is scarce because the majority of humans are unaware of their existence.
So what are Mushi and why do they exist? This is the question that a "Mushishi," Ginko, ponders constantly. Mushishi are those who research Mushi in hopes of understanding their place in the world's hierarchy of life.
Ginko chases rumors of occurrences that could be tied to Mushi, all for the sake of finding an answer.
It could, after all, lead to the meaning of life itself.)
(Genre: Supernatural, Adventure, Iyashikei, Mystery, Slice-of-Life)
(Released 2005; 26 episodes)
(Notes: A lot of y'all dont know or watch Mushishi and it shows smh lmao okay in all seriousness , this show is beautiful. give it some love. highly recommended) Read Note

Witch Hunter Robin
(Story: The series follows a fictional Japanese branch of a secret global organization called "SOLOMON" or the "Solomon Toukatsu Nin'idantai" (roughly "Solomon Executive Organization"), abbreviated as "STN" or "STN-J". Solomon fights the harmful use of witchcraft using a database of witches, which includes those who have obtained the power of witchcraft through genetics and others who carry the gene (called "seeds") in order to arrest or eliminate them should their powers "awaken". The series focuses on one STN-J member, Robin Sena.)
(Genre: Occult mystery, Supernatural, Thriller, Action, Drama, Detective)
(Released 2002; 26 episodes; PG-13)
(Notes: Yeah this one is kinda dark but it's pretty unique and refreshing to me! The only thing i couldnt vibe with is the implied romantic tension between certain characters cuz...age gap like...why? stop please just make them the same age it is NOT that hard it is not that outright stated or confirmed but still no but yeah other than that it's cool; great story and all.) Daily Obscure/Underrated Anime Recommendations Number Eight
Gokudo the Adventurer
(Story: The story focuses on an adventurer named Gokudo. Unlike most protagonists he is an antihero, willing to resort to violence to fulfill his agenda. He does not hesitate to abuse the needs of people, sell out his friends to save himself, run away from any dangers, or ditch others who helped him if he does not have any more interest in them. His life starts to change when he finds a magical Genie named Djinn who wants to grant him three wishes. While people would benefit from having three wishes, in his case it leads him to a lot of trouble, and it doesn't take long before he tries to escape from Djinn, and every other person he meets.
Other important characters are the Old Seer, who constantly appears out of nowhere, seemingly only to make Gokudo suffer more; Rubette La Lette, a noble girl with a tomboy attitude who sees Gokudo as a rival; and Prince, a mage much better at handling women than Gokudo will ever be.)
(Genre: Action, Supernatural, Comedy, Adventure, Fantasy)
(Released 1999; 26 episodes)
(Notes: This was pretty fun ngl. Sometimes it's nice to just vibe with some pretty entertaining characters. Gokudo can be a jerk sometimes though. Words can't describe how much i love this art style and animation. i love how retro anime looked) Read Note
