(This is a unique one. I actually like the way it's animated and it feels like a really underrated movie. Fun fact: This anime was directed by Michael Arias who was the first non-Japanese director of a major anime film. The anime studio behind it is Studio 4°C who are behind the original Berserk anime, Mind Game, and the Animatrix. Also, i dont understand people hating the designs for not being 'cute' or 'kawaii' enough. That is such a limited mindset in terms of character design. You're allowed to like or dislike whatever you want but don't be afraid to keep an open mind. I personally think they're unique but if you don't like it that's cool. I believe this is still a great movie in my opinion.)

You may not know them by name but you may have seen of or heard the other shows they've worked on such as Akame Ga Kill, Steins; Gate, Re:Zero, The Devil is a Part Timer, Arifureta, Jormungand, etc. Oh, and Katanagatari was originally created by Nisio Isin. (Story: The story begins with Dr. Akamashi, introduced as a scientist formerly in the employ of the government, launching a coup d'état in the Forland Kingdom. Dying, the mortally wounded king sends his daughter Alita to find Prince Kaito, who is leading a diplomatic mission and its military escort abroad. She flees from the castle and reaches a forest on the country's border.
While running, the princess falls off of a cliff and onto Falis, an infamous female bounty hunter. Due to the nature of the near-death experience (referred to as a spiritual commutation, or spiritual transmigration in the anime dub) the souls of Alita and Falis are switched. After Falis dispatches the forest's guardian beast, Alita pleads with the bounty hunter to protect the Forland kingdom, offering herself, body and soul, as collateral. They also animated/animated Attack on Titan, Kakegurui, Chainsaw Man, Dororo, Yuri on Ice, Banana Fish, Dorohedoro, Takt Op Destiny, Vinland Saga, Zombieland Saga, The God of High School, Dance Dance Danseur which was one of the first anime i recommended, etc. Also, these character designs are great. There's something about anime characters designed with actual visible lips that i love idk why i think they look great that way)

(Notes: Another cool one i found on a trailer in that old Sailor Moon DVD i used to watch all the dang time. This one is based off of a manga created by the legendary Leiji Matsumoto, may he rest in piece. Matsumoto was famous for his space operas such as Space Battleship Yamato and Galaxy Express 999. His style was characterized by mythological and often tragic storylines with strong moral themes, noble heroes, feminine heroines, and a love of strange worlds and melancholic atmosphere. You may have seen his art style at least; emulated by shows like Steven Universe. Blue Diamond's design is obviously heavily influenced by his art style and i remember it being confirmed as well. The widow of Matsumoto, Miyako Maki, is also a Japanese manga artist, and one of the earliest female manga artists. During the 1960s, Maki contributed significantly to the development of shōjo manga (manga for girls), and became one of the most popular shōjo authors of her generation. (Story: "Mushi": the most basic forms of life in the world. They exist without any goals or purposes aside from simply "being." They are beyond the shackles of the words "good" and "evil." Mushi can exist in countless forms and are capable of mimicking things from the natural world such as plants, diseases, and even phenomena like rainbows.
This is, however, just a vague definition of these entities that inhabit the vibrant world of Mushishi, as to even call them a form of life would be an oversimplification. Detailed information on Mushi is scarce because the majority of humans are unaware of their existence.
So what are Mushi and why do they exist? This is the question that a "Mushishi," Ginko, ponders constantly. Mushishi are those who research Mushi in hopes of understanding their place in the world's hierarchy of life.
Ginko chases rumors of occurrences that could be tied to Mushi, all for the sake of finding an answer.
It could, after all, lead to the meaning of life itself.)

And it was produced by THE Shinichirō Watanabe; who is best known for directing the critically acclaimed and commercially successful anime series Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo; both of which are absolutely amazing shows as well. Fun Fact: Michiko's design was based off of the African-American R&B singer Aaliyah. (Story: The story focuses on an adventurer named Gokudo. Unlike most protagonists he is an antihero, willing to resort to violence to fulfill his agenda. He does not hesitate to abuse the needs of people, sell out his friends to save himself, run away from any dangers, or ditch others who helped him if he does not have any more interest in them. His life starts to change when he finds a magical Genie named Djinn who wants to grant him three wishes. While people would benefit from having three wishes, in his case it leads him to a lot of trouble, and it doesn't take long before he tries to escape from Djinn, and every other person he meets.
Other important characters are the Old Seer, who constantly appears out of nowhere, seemingly only to make Gokudo suffer more; Rubette La Lette, a noble girl with a tomboy attitude who sees Gokudo as a rival; and Prince, a mage much better at handling women than Gokudo will ever be.)

MADE. IN. ABYSS. The world setup is cliché at first (Lil kid and her robo-friend goes on a journey to find her mum) but as you explore deeper the complexity of it's society and ecosystem will blow your minds. The plot is very well built and packs quite some surprising twists throughout the series, but the pacing can be pretty awkward at some parts. Most importantly DON'T be fooled by it's cover. The most attractive aspect of the series is how it can make you feel that the adventure is glimmering with happiness and hope, then plunge all that emotion into the abyss (see what i did there [厲害]

) This contradiction between the pure and moe protagonists and the cruel and unforgiving world will make you feel all the more immersed in this wonderful anime experience.
Btw there's also a phenomebal OST and a fluffy treasure [怪笑]
