*Cedar* is a military-themed real-time tactics game.

29 years ago, human astronauts landed on Knox, a companion planet to Earth. Inhabited by beings with animal ears who wield a mysterious power called "EGO," the game sparked a fierce space race to enhance international prestige and internal cohesion. Two major Earth powers poured massive resources into Knox, introducing this planet, with its 17th-century technology, with modern civilization.

However, five years ago, one of the powers, the "Alliance," finally collapsed under the immense burden of the space race, and various factions rising from the corpse of giants engaged in a brutal civil war. The other power, the "Covenant," also lost its external enemy, plunging into chaos and dysfunction. Fair competition and order vanished, leaving Earth more turbulent and confused. Meanwhile, without the lifeblood of Earth, Knox's nascent industrial system and modern society struggled to function. Both

the victors and vanquished on both planets were equally beset by problems. Some Earthlings began to pin their hopes on Knox: perhaps the Knox people's mysterious EGO skills could bring change and development to Earth; or at least, a new way of life could be found on this largely untouched planet.

Thus, you—a survivor of the Alliance Civil War, a young veteran—are sent to Knox to collect the Alliance's research findings on EGO: the legendary "legacy" that can unleash astonishing EGO power capable of moving mountains and filling seas. Your next choices will ultimately determine the fate of both planets.
