If you like The Promised Neverland-ish story, you may fall for this one!
The Prison Boys is a free visual novel with compelling storytelling. This sounds too generic a compliment, so let me explain the story a little bit and give you just a tiny bit of spoiler.
This is the Taisho period. Certainaly a romantic time, yet underneath the beauty of it is fear and destruction that come along with wars and the Great Kanto Earthquake. The story revolves around how the young secret police of Empire of Japan discover dark secrets of the country and decide to unravel everything. There are mysteries, friendship, betrayal, survival, tears, and innocent young people who are forced to grow up in a day - exactly like The Promised Neverland. This is some great anime material if the developer decides to make it a big project.
Of course, such a visual novel has puzzles - lots of puzzles. Sometimes you just need find an item. Sometimes you need to use audio to solve a puzzle. It's not too diffcult but challenging enough to make you do some thinking!
Most importantly, every choice of yours count! There are as many as 14 endings, so don't skip anything and be sure you pick the wisest decision. Or else you are very likely to get one of many bad endings that make you cry like a baby. Of course with a game that offers such replayability, it's never too bad to get a bad ending - you do it just to collect all endings, am I right?
The only bad thing about it is that it gives out 5 free story ticket everyday. The story progresses kinda slow if you don't buy any story ticket, but hey, it's a FREE visual novel with over 164 stages! What more can you ask for?
