this turned into an essay 🗿

so.. started in 2017 with Kizuna Ai, I remember seeing some  article about her, it was saying that she was using AI technology.  So my dumb-ass thought that Kizuna was an ACTUAL A.I so I went to watch her videos and was fascinated by it thinking "how can this be A.I?! its so advanced!!" anyways I eventually found out that it was in fact a real person but by that point I thought she was pretty funny and followed her. I stopped watching her videos for a bit after the whole drama of the other seiyus 'replacing' her and all that nonsense, but I still love her and her music

anyways, cut to 2019... Fire Emblem Three houses had come out and I was looking for memes related to the game and ended up following a bunch of fire emblem meme accounts on Instagram. But what was strange was that quite a few of these fire emblem accounts also posted about Bandori, of all games. Bandori and Fire Emblem? weird match. And it wasn't just one account that happened to be interested in both, it was multiple! but anyway, this one person I followed posted Fire emblem and bandori right? , but they also posted about this thing called Hololive. I was curious about it, at this time Hololive wasn't so big. So I went onto the vtuber wiki page and looked them up, learnt all their names etc. kinda got a feel for it. watched a few of their videos, but none of then really clicked. So I looked up translated clips, I came across one about Suisei, it was titled 'My parents found out that I'm a Vtuber' and I was really curious. In the clip, she was talking about her experience with her parents and I actually found myself laughing a lot. Not only that, but in the video she was also working on some digital artwork of the other hololive members , as a digital artist myself I found it really awesome so I decided to subscribe to her. I then started to get interested in Pekora from one of their collab streams I think. I heard she was quite popular and wanted to check her out and ended up greatly liking her!
There was even a point where I'd attend every single one of her streams, even the 3am ones! and I'd sit there and watch it and not understand a word but i'd still enjoy myself!  unfortunately I haven't really had the time to watch her streams much, recently, let alone sit through every one! Suddenly I blink and she has reached 1 million subscribers, it's really crazy
I guess the release of Hololive EN accentuated to the sudden growth and popularity of Hololive in particular, and Vtubers as a whole, which really caught me off guard because suddenly there were so many new fans and it wasnt really a small thing anymore.  I still remember when the live2d models of all the HoloEN were being released before their debut and people saw Mori Calliope's live2d model and made memes saying that she was 'boing boing Rushia'

anyways yeah that's pretty much it I'm so sorry for this long essay no one asked for its like 3am why did I write so much-
